The classical/jazz duo of Sarah Swersey (flute) and Joe Belmont (guitar)

FLUTE LESSONS & GUITAR LESSONS

Sarah Swersey teaches flute privately and at Deerfield Academy and the Northampton Community Music Center. A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory and Yale University School of Music, she also has taught improvisation to young conservatory students at Kinhaven and Greenwood music camps and the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra’s summer camp. “Sarah, in addition to being a wonderful player with a big, gorgeous sound, is a gifted and skillful teacher,” says Jim Weber, who returned to studying flute after a long hiatus. “She listens intently, identifies underlying problems and suggests specific ways to work through them. I feel I have made great progress working with her. Her standards are high, and she demands a lot. For the serious student, Sarah is the real thing.” To inquire about flute lessons, contact Sarah at 413-262-5798 or [escapeemail email=”sarah@duo-fusion.com” ].

Joe Belmont teaches guitar privately and at Amherst College, and also is Director of Jazz Studies at the Northampton Community Music Center. He has a degree in music theory and composition from the City College of New York. “Joe Belmont is a great teacher. There aren’t many guitar styles that he hasn’t mastered,” says Ryan Dugre, a former student and now a professional guitarist. “My experience with him was inspiring and encouraging. He would get just as excited as me about something I wanted to learn, and would take the time to explain the various techniques that go into it. He played a large role in preparing me for life as a professional musician.” (For other student testimonials, look here.)
