WEDDINGS & SPECIAL EVENTS
Why should I choose Dúo Fusión to provide
the music for my wedding?
Many of the ensembles that hire themselves out for weddings and other private events are essentially pick-up groups made up of rotating rosters of musicians who seldom perform together. Dúo Fusión, on the other hand, is always Sarah Swersey on flute and Joe Belmont on guitar. When you hire Dúo Fusión for your big day, you get a well-rehearsed, concert-quality ensemble.

What costs are involved?
Some couples ask Dúo Fusión to perform during their wedding ceremony and the cocktail hour to follow, which typically totals two hours. Other couples hire the duo for just one hour, which includes 15 to 20 minutes of prelude music (while guests are being seated), a processional, any music the couple desires during the ceremony, and a recessional. For a price quote, please contact Joe Belmont at 413-586-1422 or .
A couple of things that factor into the cost: Dúo Fusión is based in Northampton, Mass., and will travel up to an hour at no extra cost; for events farther away, a travel stipend will be added. Also, for a fee, Dúo Fusión will provide and operate a public address system with a microphone for your officiant or readers.
Can I choose the music? Do I have to?
Dúo Fusión performs a wide variety of musical styles, from classical to jazz and beyond, and has gorgeous selections of music for each part of a wedding ceremony. Sarah and Joe are happy to suggest pieces that will lend your event the ambiance you desire — from traditional to eclectic. If there are specific musical selections you would like — whether in Dúo Fusión’s current repertoire or not — let Sarah and Joe know. They take requests . . . as long as the request is made well in advance.
What does Dúo Fusión require for a performance?
Two chairs and an electrical outlet. That’s all that’s needed for an indoor event.
For outdoor events, Sarah and Joe must be set up under a tent or other protection from the elements. This is necessary because cold weather or even a drizzling rainfall would endanger their instruments. Also, while understanding that it’s not always possible outdoors, Dúo Fusión strongly prefers to have access to electricity for Joe’s guitar microphone, which balances the levels of the instruments and creates a sound most enjoyable for your guests.
Does Dúo Fusión take part in the rehearsal?
Sarah and Joe never have been to a wedding rehearsal, and every ceremony they’ve been part of has gone off without a hitch. They always arrive early enough to coordinate with the officiant and a contact person representing the couple. If you feel you must have Dúo Fusión at your rehearsal, though, it can be arranged for a fee.
Should I be concerned if the flutist sheds a tear during the ceremony?
Sarah is sentimental. She’s been known to be moved to tears during a particularly touching moment during a wedding . . . all while never missing a note on flute!
